Carnesky Productions is an artist-lead organisation committed to interdisciplinary performance events and workshops. Founded by Marisa Carnesky, the company has developed a form, which exists between live art, new circus, experimental theatre, and installation art. The Carnesky aesthetic is inspired by spectacular popular entertainment from funfair rides to waxwork exhibitions, magic illusions, and grand ritual. Embedded within Carnesky’s practice is an interest in issues surrounding gender and the feminine in mythology and history with particular emphasis on cultural political themes such as migration, displacement, identity, global conflicts, and the role of ritual and superstition. Marisa is currently undertaking a PHD at Middlesex University in the Performance and Media department.

— Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
“Definitely worth a visit. It’s scary, intelligent, layered and disconcerting”
— Derren Brown

Carnesky’s Ghost Train: Groundbreaking Fairground Installation Theatre Ride To Bow Out In Spooky Style This Easter
The seminal standalone work which is Carnesky’s Ghost Train is set to haunt the borders of art and entertainment for one last time on Blackpool’s Golden Mile for 2 weeks over Easter. After 10 years of occupying the unique space that blends artful theatrical installation with a stunning, spooky and magical ghost train, the ride will be closing the hatch on its border control for good.
“Whilst we are all terribly sad that this wonderful experience is coming to an end, it has been hugely rewarding to have been able to help re-imagine British seaside's art & entertainment offering, and to have helped develop and nurture so much local talent along the way. A touring exhibition will be a joyful celebration and exploration of the legacy that the ride has. We look forward to welcoming scare-seekers from all over the world for what promises to be a thrilling final fortnight!”
— Marisa Carnesky
1–6pm, 12–21 April 2014 on Blackpool Seafront.
